Shred with Ted... and Marge

Ted and Marge Seeholzer own and operate Beaver Mountain Ski Resort.  Everyday, they are there.  They were there when we went last weekend.  Ted (who is 82ish) was barking orders- just like we remembered and Marge?  Well, of course she was in the ticket office selling tickets.  She recognized Allen and asked him what he was up to, where he is living and about the kids.  We thought it was nice of her.  I don't know how nice the people behind him in line thought she was... but anyway.  Beaver has a down-home feel to it.  As Brady says, it's probably the last "mom-and-pop" ski resort left in the world.  It's still producing incredible skiers and boarders.  It's the kind of place where you see Ski Patrol skiing with their families (when there isn't anything else to do, of course).

Allen grew up skiing there with his dad and siblings.  He had a large group of friends that he skied with all through high school and into college.  College, that's when I joined the group.  Allen and I got engaged there- on top of Lone Pine.  We skied the Beav 4 days a week together before we got married and about that many times a week the year after.

And speaking of old friends, Brandon (a.k.a. Bum- some nicknames never die, sorry Bum) is living back in the valley so he joined us on Saturday.  It was great to have him with us.

Allen and Brandon

We skied Saturday and it was fabulous.  Lots of deep powder and of course the trees were super fun!  Beaver still has the best tree skiing of anywhere I've been.  Josiah covered the whole mountain.  His favorite was Teddy's Frolic.  He even skied Lou's on Monday (For you Lindy).

When we woke up on Monday, we debated on whether or not to go.  It had rained and snowed a lot on Sunday.  The problem was, we weren't sure if it RAINED at Beaver.  Nothing (or very little anyway) is worse than snow that has been rained on and then froze!  As it turned out, it didn't rain at Beaver- it snowed a TON!  Monday was wonderful!  We wished we got there earlier!

Josiah, Allen and Brandon
It looks like they are scoping lines- just like the old days.

Clair, Brandon, Allen, Josiah and Wes on Saturday.

All the trees in the canyon are WHITE!  It's very beautiful.  They have got a lot of snow this year.

This picture was taken on the first lift ride up on Saturday.  It snowed ALL day!  It was one of those days where the skiing only gets better as the day goes on. The next picture is my favorite.

This is Wes and Clair at the end of the day.  Crazy!!!!

  2. I should have taken a photo of you. You are missing in all of the pictures. I guess you'll have to come back.
