We told the kids they couldn't get up until the first number on the clock was a 6. I heard them whispering at 5:50am. Then, promptly at 6:00am, Kate marched in and flipped on our light! That was that, we said 6:00 and she was NOT waiting one more minute!
On Christmas Eve, Allen and the kids built this tower. They left it up hoping that Santa would knock it over and wake them. Then they could catch a glimpse of the Big Guy! Ali even came up with an idea to use a string and attach a plate of cookies to it. Then when Santa picked up the cookies, the tower would fall and she could see him. I told her it probably wasn't a good idea to make a "Santa trap" since it was still a little touch-and-go as to whether or not he was bringing her anything (she's on the border line this year). She decided not to set the trap. Santa brought her what she was hoping for.
Her and Kate did leave out oats for the reindeer. They made nine little piles on the front sidewalk. They did nine because they weren't sure if Santa would need Rudolf this year.

We went skiing for a few hours after opening gifts. Santa was there. Ali could barely ski for looking for him. FINALLY, she found him. Allen and Ali were on one side of him getting ready to get on a lift. Kate and I were on the other side, getting ready to get on a different lift. Allen and I both saw him about the same time and started running for him. Ali really wanted to see him. I think he thought we were crazy. Oh well, Ali got to see him and I got a picture!
HO-HO-HO lota fun!
Merry Christmas to you all and best wished for the New Year!
Anya was looking at this post with me and was jealous of all the kids' gifts :). I told her when she is their age, maybe she'll get things like they did. So, did Santa knock over the tower?
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice to think of the reindeer. They are always forgotten. You need to come to our house. We have the original "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer." I learned many new things in it that were completely new!
